2022-23 YR Topic Map – Term 1- Marvellous Me

This term we will be getting to know our lovely new cohort!  We will be focusing on:

-Supporting the children to become familiar with new routines and expectations

-Developing relationships with adults and peers

-Identifying emotions and managing our own feelings

-Celebrating being unique

-Developing a sense of community

Week 1: Starting school

The children have settled in so well already, we have been so impressed with how grown up the children have been in school each day.  There have been smiles all round and we are seeing new friendships blossom already!

Have a look at our first day at school photos!

Week 2:  Elmer

This week we are celebrating our similarities and our differences.  We have spotted things that are the same about us and some things that are different (how we look, what we enjoy doing, what we are good at). We also thought carefully about what ‘special’ means and each brought a special bag to school and showed off 3 things that are special to us.  We did lots of fun crafts this week too, but the best bit was finishing up the week with an Elmer party!

We have also stated phonics (learning m, a, s, d, t) and maths where we have focused on learning to represent numbers 1, 2 and 3.
