Welcome to Term 6
Welcome back to term 6! It was lovely to hear about what everyone had been doing during our very sunny break. The children have come back happy and ready to let their light shine. We have a very busy term ahead packed with new learning and our class trip to the Matthew and M-Shed.
I will attach our knowledge organisers and this term’s spellings. It would be very beneficial for your child if you could practice spellings and discuss their learning using the knowledge organisers.
Learning this term:
English
Our writing will be inspired by The Proudest Blue by Ibtihaj Muhammad. We will be rewriting the story from a different character’s viewpoint and using -er and -est endings, a range of conjunctions and apostrophes for contraction.
Maths
We hill be learning how to tell the time, measure time periods and improving our times table recall speed for the 2, 5 and 10 times tables. Please encourage your child to practice their times tables on TTRockStars or by any other method.
History
We will be learning about the explorer John Cabot and his expedition on the Matthew of Bristol to Newfoundland in North America. We will learn about what made Bristol the perfect location for sailing expeditions. We will be consolidating our knowledge on our class trip to the Matthew and M-Shed later this month.
Science
We will be continuing our unit on animals including humans and exploring how we can stay healthy. This unit will link into our DT this term which is about how to make a healthy wrap – I will be asking for volunteers to help us as we get close to making our wraps.
RW
In RW, we will be exploring how we should care for others and the world and why it matters. We will look at how different faiths can support this.
