Attendance

We are very proud of our Attendance Record. Our target for 2025/2026 has been set at 97%.

If your child is absent from school
If your child is absent from school it is essential that you contact the school by telephone before 9.00am. At this point, the registers will be checked and any absentees will be telephoned. Unauthorised absences (those absences for which no reasonable explanation has been given) will be recorded on your child’s attendance registration certificate and annual report. Unauthorised absences – where there have been 10 unauthorised absences (1 school day = 2 sessions, 5 school days = 10 sessions) within a ten week period the Local Authority will be alerted who may then decide to issue you with a fixed penalty notice. This is in line with South Glos guidelines and school attendance policy. See website: https://www.southglos.gov.uk/education-and-learning/schools-and-education/behaviour-and-attendance/school-attendance/authorised-and-unauthorised-absence-from-school/

Term Time Absence and Special Occasions
In 2006, the Government made an amendment to the regulations on term time absence meaning that schools prohibited from authorising any leave in term time; unless there are exceptional circumstances. Our Attendance Policy reflects these changes.
