Our Vision: Let Your Light Shine - Matthew 5:16

Music

At St Barnabas, we understand that music and singing is integral to life at our school. Throughout each academic year, we provide opportunities for St Barnabas children to shine in our music curriculum.

We use the ‘Kapow’  scheme of work which provides opportunities for children to listen and appraise, create and perform their own pieces of music using instruments, voice and body movements. The ‘Kapow’ scheme of work also ensures that children are exposed to various genres of music so that they can make choices about different types of music and artists.

At St Barnabas, we know that exposure to music can support self-confidence and enhance wellbeing. Therefore, as well as standalone music lessons, music is woven throughout our entire curriculum.

Throughout their time at Primary School, children have the opportunity to participate and perform at various events within school and at our local church. We also have weekly singing assemblies where we come together and celebrate song as a whole school.
